It is true there are a few things to do to configure your server environment to work with Zurmo. But it depends also if you are looking to install it for testing and trying out, or for production. Many other middleware apps, like Drupal, also require tweaks to php.ini and other things to run properly.
Please note also there is a virtual appliance with zurmo, which has zurmo, the libraries, the configs, and the entire linux stack. For you it may be a much easier way to install and run Zurmo, especially if you are looking for a quick start.
Download and install Oracle VirtualBox, https://www.virtualbox.org/
and then follow the instructions here:
